Everyone Gets The Blues
An International Connection from Blues Players Across the World
An archway is a passage—a connection from one place to another. That’s the spirit behind this project: connecting Blues musicians across the world to create something real, together.
During a recent trip to India, I met Sushant Thakur, a Delhi-based Blues guitarist who founded The Delhi Blues Society. I’m based in Glasgow, Scotland, where I started Glasgow Blues Players about 10 years ago. Sushant plays in a band called Big Bang Blues, and I play piano and Hammond organ in The Deke McGee Band.
Since meeting in November 2024, we’ve stayed in touch and are now launching The Archway Collaboration.
🎶 What Is the Archway Collaboration?
It’s a global collaboration among Blues musicians—no politics, no pressure, just the joy of making music. Inspired by projects like Playing for Change, we aim to write and record a song together, each contributing from our own city and culture.
In a world full of digital noise, we’re seeking real connections with real people to make a real song.
🛠️ How It Works
We’ll co-write a song and record our parts individually using whatever software you’re comfortable with.
Once the song is complete, we’ll each film ourselves playing near an archway in our city.
These clips will be combined into one collaborative video.
If you’re unsure about recording or video editing, we’ll guide you through it.
We’ll stay connected via WhatsApp and occasional video calls.
🔍 Transparency & Trust
When I first contacted Sushant, he looked me up to confirm I was genuine—and I encourage you to do the same.
